Erik,
Thanks for jumping back into Europa II development. I'm out of town a lot during weekends and have missed every opportunity to test thus far, but I hope to find time during the winter to check it out. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the words of encouragement Keith, it's greatly appreciated. Once the environment is actually up and running, players will have 2 weeks to explore away, possibly fighting a few bosses and such...[laughs evilly] ...That test will be to make sure that the environment can sustain the traffic and continuous running. IF, and I do say IF it's not too expensive, I might be looking into having a computer built just to run the server and host. It wouldn't need much of an HD or a high end graphics card, but I would dump all the cash into getting the most effective RAM and processor for the server. Effectively, 3 things would be running on that comp, the OS, the NWN2 server and an AV program. That, coupled with a shared online storage for the character database folder, would be the first step in opening up the current server for running instances.

I have added a few zones over the past weekend. Development may be slower, but nonetheless it is moving forward.

A total of 5 zones have been completed since September 2nd. These include the Fae Swamps, The far eastern Hellenathi lands, and the Drow Mountainous Landscape.
I'm moving it along slowly but surely, while paying attention to some of the details that were initially missed. This is a good thing.... hehehe

Some time has gone by since my last post on the development... just to bring it all up to date:
An SQL database has been added for persistence. This database has been vigorously tested, and the results are.
1) PC location saves within a 60 second period of your last location upon server crash, and on the spot when you intentionally log off.
2) the Date and Time saves well and restores upon server reboot within a 15 minute intermission after a server crash.
3) the player written notes (that is, your own typed logs to remind you of things to do, places to farm, etc) works like a charm. The journals DO record to the database, but [ISSUE] in game the journal entries do not populate...
[RESOLUTION] the resolution at this time will be to create 0.01 lb scroll/paper items that contain the journal information to accompany the quest, so that players will know which quests they need to complete, and at what stage they are. They will be able to discard the papers at any time, or store them in the provided quest bag until no longer needed. This way the quest items will take no room int eh inventory and weigh only a fraction of their total weight thanks to the quest bag.
