I tested it this morning.
Usefulness:
-Night/Dark vision now stays on after a transition.
-Can create macro-buffs in a toolbar, meaning several buffs are applied on one click to a specific target.
-Click to go map, click anywhere on the map and the character goes there.
Annoyances:
-Too many related windows open and run on top of my windowed client game, must be minimized to clear the way.
Anyone else care to add any observations?

I have had trouble installing the Extension. I can get the Extension windows to sart-up but not the main game. Or the other whay around but not both at the same time.  Where do I put the files? I tried with them outside the /Program Files/Neverwinter Nights 2/ folder and I have tried with the files inside the folder. Any help will be apreaciated. I have read the 23 pages long RedMe file but not yet the long forum entries. |

I think a Proper set of instructions should be provided. Here it is, step by step. :-) A) Create a new folder somewhere in your documents and name it: NWN2 Client Extender. B) Go to the link of the Latest Extender and download it: www.nynaeve.net/Skywing/nwn2/cliext/ClientExtension_Latest.zip...open the pkg. Once unzipped, drop everything that is in the package into the newly created folder from Step A. Next, follow these steps: 1) (First time only.) Double-click hdlinstall.reg to install support for .hdl files. You only need to perform this step once per computer. 2) (First time only.) Install the updated Visual C++ 2005 SP1 libraries. You can download them from this link (choose the vcredist_x86.exe option). Pick the x86 binary even if you use 64-bit Windows as the game is a 32-bit program: Link: www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=766a6af7-ec73-40ff-b072-9112bab119c2&displaylang=en3) Start Neverwinter Nights 2 and go to the main menu. It is recommended that you use Neverwinter Nights 2 in windowed mode but this is not strictly required. 4) Navigate to the newly created NWN2 Client Extender folder and right-click the ClientExtension.hdl file and choose the 'Apply' option from the menu that appears. 5) Log on to your favored game server as normal. You must follow steps 3-5 again each time you exit Neverwinter Nights 2. Be sure to apply the extension -before- you log on to your server. Voila! When running there should be a black DOS window running in the background, a white command window (minimize it or close it) and a click-able land map that allows you to go to wherever you click on it (even from one edge of the map to the next, one click!). As part of the program's benefits, you can create spell Macro's on the hotbars. Here are the instructions.
PS: you will need the white command window I mentioned that you could minimize or close in the previous post. This is where you type the commands to activate the Macro.
Custom Hotbar Macros

To create a hotbar macro button, use the /setmacro command as follows (in the white command box):
/setmacro <hotbar button number> <command1>[;command2;commandN]
Example:
/setmacro <13> <command1>[;command2;command3;command4;command5]
Where button 13 will initiate the Macro, the spells are in the following 2, 3, 4 & 5 slots...
"Hotbar button number" indicates the hotbar button which will be turned into a macro-enabled hotbar button. Button 1 is the first hotbar button, on row 1. Button 13 is the first hotbar button on row 2, and buttom 15 is the third hotbar button on row 2, and so on... thus hotbar #109 is the first in the tenth hotbar, for a total of 120 hotbar slots.
The new Macro command button will appear as a 'texture missing' icon, this is normal.

Thanks, Erik, for the instructions. I got it to work now. Unfortunately, I will not be using the Client Extension. I'm playing on a 15" laptop (MacBook Pro) and windows real eastate is precious. It's not really feasible to play in a windowed mode at low resolutions and full screen is not quite compatible since the map window keeps flicking in and out of the game screen. Hmmm, maybe I will look at those 24" screens again. Now where would I put it??? *looks around the house where it would be safe from children and finds nothing*  |
